We're proud to continue this award following a powerful inaugural year.
New England Ballet Theatre is thrilled to announce the second annual Young Choreographer Award, an opportunity created to uplift and invest in emerging choreographic voices. This award is part of NEBT’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovation in dance and providing platforms for new artistic perspectives.
Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by September 1, 2026

Open to emerging and early-career choreographers from all backgrounds
-
Must be available to travel to Avon, CT for the residency
The selected choreographer will:
-
Receive a $750 commissioning fee
-
Be given a $500 costume budget
-
Participate in a one-week residency with NEBT company dancers at our studios in Avon, Connecticut

Have their original work featured in NEBT's production of Ballet Unbound, to be performed in both New York City and Hartford, CT

Be supported by NEBT’s Artistic and Production team during the creative process
Residency Timeline:
The selected choreographer must be available for one week between December 8, 2025 – February 13, 2026. Specific dates will be coordinated based on the choreographer’s and company’s availability.
Application deadline is Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time
Applicants will be asked to submit:
